When documents and labs are uploaded to Avaros, they are matched to a patient by last name, gender, date of birth, and health card number (if present).
If any of these values do not match an existing patient, the Lab or Document will appear in your inbox as "Unmatched" signified by a yellow background.
Two types of unmatched items may appear in your inbox: a) unmatched lab results, and b) unmatched documents.
Unmatched Lab Results
If the unmatched item in your inbox is a lab result, when you click to open it you will see a "Patient Matching" window pop-up with the option to search for a patient in your EMR to match the Lab Result with.
For example, an unmatched Lab result for a "John Smith" that failed to match because of an inccorect date of birth would create a patient matching pop-up like the one below.
To match the lab result to the John Smith found in this search, click the demographic number (highlighted in red, above).
If the search does not return a suitable match, you can re-try it using a date of birth, address, or health card number.
After clicking to open an unmatched document, you will be able to view the document, and will also see a section to the left of the document where document details need to be completed to match the document (highlighted in red, below).
To match the document, you will need to assign it a description, a type, and then search for a patient that the document should be linked to in the "Search Demographic" field.
After entering the information above, click the "Save" or "Save and Close" buttons to complete the match.
