Health Card Validation Basic (HCV Basic) is a free service offered by OntarioMD in partnership with the Ministry of Health (MOH). This feature is granted to users once they are registered with ontariomd.ca, and is linked to Avaros with your Go Secure credentials.
How to Activate Health Card Validation
To set up HCV, go to 'Administration' → 'Billing' → 'Manage Go Secure'. Here you can enter the clinic's Go Secure credentials, the main account holder and the linked provider accounts. I sure to select 'Use same Go Secure credentials for HCV' if you are using the same credentials to access HCV. Once completed, select 'Update' to save your changes.
Email support@avaros.ca to have HCV turned on for your clinic once finished.

Where to Find HCV
Avaros offers real-time health card validation (HCV) from multiple places in the EMR including:
- The banner in the patient's eChart
- The "Create/Update Appointment" modal when booking an appointment in the schedule
- The Master Record of a patient
- In the "Billing Correction" window when viewing any existing invoices
Simply click on the "Validate HC" button or the health card icon, to run HCV and get the real-time validity.
