If your AI Scribe isn't behaving the way you expect, this article covers the most common recording issues doctors run into, why they happen, and how to fix them.
Recordings not showing up in the eChart
If your note comes back empty or you see a message like "For richer notes, consider recording a bit longer," this usually means the Scribe wasn't able to capture a transcript of your visit. This is almost always related to your microphone or recording setup, not the note generation itself.
During your next visit, click Show Transcripts. If the transcript is blank or very short, your microphone likely isn't capturing audio properly.
Common Causes and Fixes
Microphone permissions blocked / Incorrect Microphone enabled
Chrome may be blocking microphone access for the site without you noticing. Click the settings icon in the address bar, check that Microphone permission is toggled on to allow. You can also click the arrow next to this setting to ensure the appropriate device is being used, then select reload at the top of Chrome to try again.
Background noise or multiple speakers talking over each other
The Scribe works best with one clear voice at a time. Busy exam rooms, hallway noise, or patients and providers speaking simultaneously can all reduce transcript quality.
Recording stopped early or was too short
Very short recordings (a few seconds) may not give the Scribe enough to work with. If a visit runs short, add a bit more verbal detail before ending the recording.
Recommended Setup
Browser: Google Chrome is recommended for the most reliable recording experience. Other browsers are not officially supported at this time.
We also recommend not having any additional extensions enabled or ad-blockers as this can sometimes interfere with the recording.
