The digital health drug repository (DHDR) is an electronic repository of dispensed drug and pharmacy service information that gives real-time and secure access to information about publicly funded drugs and pharmacy services, all monitored drugs (regardless of payor) and COVID-19 vaccination information from the provincial COVaxON vaccination management system. With rapid access to comprehensive, accurate, and up-to-date patient medication information, you can make more informed decisions for enhanced patient care.
OntarioMD will reach out to the clinic representative through the contact information you provided Avaros when onboarding. They may need clinic or provider details and an eSigntaure to finalize the registration. They notify Avaros directly when this has been completed and Avaros will complete the rest of the setup from there.
Setting Up DHDR
1. Registering with eHealth Ontario
To use DHDR, you will need to register with eHealth Ontario either as an individual provider or as part of a clinic. To get that process started, just send a note to support@avaros.ca.
2. Follow-up with OntarioMD

Accessing DHDR in Avaros
You can open DHDR for a patient from the Medications module. This can be opened by:
-
Selecting ‘Medications’ from the patient’s eChart
-
Selecting ‘Rx’ beside a patient’s name in a search or booked appointment
Once in the medications module, you can open DHDR through the display button on the top-right-hand side.
DHDR Navigation and Layout
There are two main sections you can choose to view in DHDR at the top of the display
- Drugs Dispensed which include publicly funded and monitored drugs
- Pharmacy Services eg: Medchecks, immunizations etc.
Under each of these sections, you can view what is listed in DHDR as well as the prescriptions for that patient within Avaros.
Refining Search Results
At the top of each of the DMDR and Avaros results, there are a selection of filters to refine your search. When selecting a filter, only options contained within the patient’s results are displayed to choose from.
Select ‘Apply’ after choosing the filter to refine your results.
